CSK’s Winning Formula: Kris Srikkanth Advises Key Changes, Backs R Ashwin with a Twist
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are off to a shaky start in IPL 2025. After beating Mumbai Indians in their opening match, the team has suffered back-to-back losses against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals. With just one win in four games, CSK finds itself at seventh place on the points table. Fans are worried, but former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth has stepped in with some bold suggestions to turn things around.
Devon Conway In, Jamie Overton Out
Srikkanth believes CSK needs a fresh approach to their struggling opening combination. He has called for Devon Conway to replace Jamie Overton at the top of the order. Conway, known for his consistency and ability to anchor innings, could be the stability CSK desperately needs.
“Conway has to come in place of Jamie Overton,” Srikkanth stated firmly. “He can provide the foundation CSK lacks right now.”
Backing R Ashwin, But With a Strategic Change
Ravichandran Ashwin, the premier spinner, has been under scrutiny after claiming only three wickets in three matches. However, Srikkanth insists that CSK should not drop him. Instead, they should tweak his role.
“Ashwin is still an asset, but stop him from bowling in the Powerplay,” Srikkanth explained. “Between overs 7 and 18, he can be highly effective alongside Jadeja and Noor Ahmad. Together, they can easily deliver 10 quality overs.”
This advice highlights the importance of using Ashwin strategically. By saving him for middle-overs pressure situations, CSK can maximize his strengths without exposing him during high-risk phases.
More Changes for Balance
Srikkanth didn’t stop there. He also recommended bringing in Anshul Kamboj, suggesting he could replace Aman Tripathi in the playing XI. Additionally, he backed Shivam Dube to play a key role, supported by Andre Siddharth as an Impact Player.
“Mukesh Choudhary is another good option,” Srikkanth added. “He has bowled well for CSK in the past and deserves a chance.”
What Lies Ahead?
CSK will face Delhi Capitals in their next fixture this Saturday. With these suggested changes, fans hope the five time IPL champions can bounce back stronger. Will Srikanth’s advice lead to a turnaround? Only time will tell.
